Billy Raffin
Billy Raffin is an Argentinian-Australian artist based in Melbourne. At the heart of her practice is a curiosity for observing narratives, and a deep interest in consciousness and dreaming. Billy interrogates playful representations of the mundane, transforming simple interactions into thoughtful articulations. She works across the moving image, illustration, and music; music, in particular, has captured her imagination for the better part of 10 years, where Billy has played drums for a range of Melbourne bands.
Billy has created work for the SIGNAL Sound X Screen Commissions (2020), Gertrude Street Projection Festival (2021, 2019), performed at the Melbourne Fringe Festival (2021, 2019), curated and exhibited in a group exhibition, ‘An Oneiric Reality’, at the Brunswick Street Gallery (2020), is a recipient of a Moonee Valley Biannual Grant (2022), and regularly performs in her various bands. She was recently an Artist in Residence with Chateau Orquevaux in France (2022), the City of Yarra (2021) and has been accepted into the forthcoming King Island Artist Residency (2022). Billy is also currently undertaking a Master of Arts (Art in Public Space) at RMIT University.
