Release Cycle: Jen Valender

    8:30-10:00AM 21 April, 2023

For the 9th iteration of Release Cycle, we are delighted to present Fieldwork a screening of moving image works by Jen Valender.

Part installation and part fable, the artist will be accompanied by the Acerbic Tong Troupe to perform discourse scripted by a collective of emerging art critics, aged five and six. Through moving image, Valender frames contemporary art as a navigational tool to explore the harmony and discord between practices of life and death. For this screening, she will present an interplay between living and processed art materials, endurance performance and the role of the sacrificed animal. Audiences can expect to witness relational paradoxes, moral conflicts and ethical binds informed by mothering, cross-species feminism and farm life-work-art experiences.

For Release Cycle SEVENTH Gallery & Composite partner to present a 12-month screening series featuring clusters and conglomerations of moving works by visual artists that experiment widely with form and format.
