Release Cycle: Spectral Wires

    7:30-9:30AM 24 February, 2023

For the 7th iteration of Release Cycle, we present Spectral Wires is a performance lecture and a retrospective screening of Nikki Lam’s moving image works.

Nikki Lam is an artist-curator based in Naarm (Melbourne). Born in Hong Kong, her work deals with the complexity of migratory expressions, through exploring hybridity and memory through the contemplation on time, space and impermanence. Nikki’s current research focuses on the artistic agency during cultural, social and political transitions. With an expanded practice in writing, exhibition and festival making, she is drawn to relational modes of practice. She puts this in practice as co-director of Hyphenated Projects and curator-at-large at The Substation.

Release Cycle is a collaborative curatorial project instigated by Diego Ramirez, Director of SEVENTH Gallery and Channon Goodwin from Composite. The programme stems from an interest in creating a dynamic and responsive context for the presentation of artists' moving image works being made now.

Release Cycle offers artists from across Australia the opportunity to present their work along with discursive and performative elements at Composite's screening space at Collingwood Yards each month from March 2022.
