A solo exhibition by Timoteus Anggawan Kusno featuring the 2 channel video work Ghost Light (2021). Curated by Tim Woodward.
In this piece, two actors perform a repertoire, establishing and dismantling the idea of monuments, ghosts, and the absence of light. Meanwhile, the same actors and the director (Kusno) fictionalise its auditive ambience through choreographed sound production.
In his practice, Kusno (b. 1989) renders narratives which stretch the liminal spaces of fiction and history, imagination and memory. Working across the mediums of installation, drawing and moving image, Kusno questions the coloniality of power and what remains left unseen. He has exhibited work in museums and international biennales, including the Centre for Fine Arts, Brussels, Belgium; Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Mumbay City Museum, India; and the 13th Gwangju Biennale, South Korea. His works have been collected by public institutions including the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA) Seoul, Korea, and the Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA) Taipei, Taiwan.
