Masaharu Sato
Masaharu Sato was born in Oita, Japan in 1973 and obtained a BA and MA in Fine Arts (Painting) from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. Between 2000 and 2002 he also studied sculpture at the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Winner of the 12th Taro Okamoto Prize for Contemporary Art in 2009, Sato has had numerous solo and group exhibitions in Japan and abroad, including: "DANDANS at No Mans Land," French Embassy, Tokyo (2010) , "Morality" film program, Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art, Rotterdam, The Netherlands (2010), "Roppongi Hills Program video art at Roppongi Art Night 2010," Roppongi Hills, Tokyo, "JAPANCONGO" Le Magasin - Center national pour l'art contemporain, Grenoble, France (2011), "not only paper" CAFA Art Museum, Beijing, China (2012), "FILE 2014," Center culturel Fiesp, Sao Paolo, Brazil (2014), and "Gifu Land of Clear Waters Art Festival, Art Award IN THE CUBE 2017, "Musée des Beaux-Arts, Gifu (2017).
